New illustrated storybook invites children to swap screens for streams and discover the magic of Indias wilderness

Mumbai, India Elephant Family Foundation India (EFFI), a registered charitable foundation dedicated to protecting the countrys most vulnerable wildlife, proudly announces the release of its first childrens book — Sofies Great Wildlife Adventure – a beautifully illustrated tale that celebrates Indias wild heritage and the values of kindness, coexistence, and conservation.

This unique publication, written by Farah Siddiqui Khan (who is also the Director of EFFI) and illustrated by Sucharita Sengupta Suri, is not for sale but has been created as part of the foundations educational and awareness-building initiatives. Through imaginative storytelling and captivating visuals, the book encourages young readers to respect and protect nature.

The story follows Sofie, a curious young girl preparing for her first trip to a wildlife sanctuary. Guided by her mothers wisdom, she learns about animal habitats, the importance of not littering, the etiquette of visiting the wild, and how every creature plays a vital role in the ecosystem. Packed with gentle humour, accessible facts, and lush illustrations, the book fosters empathy for animals and a deeper appreciation of Indias biodiversity.

The book will be distributed to schools and children’s communities where EFFI will be holding workshops and talks to educate children on the Human – Animal Coexistence.

Acclaimed wildlife conservationist Ratna Singh, Indias first professional woman naturalist, pens the foreword, reminding readers that adventure isnt loud; its quiet, curious, and full of wonder.

Author Farah Siddiqui Khan, an accomplished art curator and Director of Elephant Family Foundation India, drew inspiration from her lifelong love for animals and her belief in a more compassionate world. This book is for every child who has ever been curious about the world beyond their window, she says. If we can nurture that sense of wonder early, we can raise a generation that cares deeply for the wild.

Illustrator Sucharita Sengupta Suri brings the story to life with detailed, whimsical art inspired by the beauty and peculiarities of nature, ensuring each page is a visual treat for young minds.
