Renowned poet, novelist, and cultural voice from Tripura, North East, Sankha Subhra Devbarman, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the prestigious Dunster Business School, Switzerland, at a special convocation ceremony held in New Delhi on 6th December 2025.
Dunstar Business School, a licensed Swiss higher-education institution, is internationally recognized by the European Association for Higher Education Advancement (EAHEA), the International Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (QAHE), the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), and is acknowledged within the AACSB ecosystem. The institution also holds a QS 4 Stars rating, further elevating the significance of this global honor.
At the convocation ceremony, Devbarman was presented with the Doctorate Certificate, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to tourism literature, cultural preservation, and narrative interpretation of heritage landscapes. His body of work—spanning poetry, fiction, and cultural studies—has consistently highlighted the identity, rhythms, and storytelling traditions of Tripura and the Northeast, helping place regional narratives on an international platform.
Adding to the celebratory occasion, a special book From Simplicity to Significance Beyond the Titles dedicated to Sankha Subhra Devbarman was released by author and researcher Nishi Garg. The publication is a tribute to his literary journey, his socio-cultural insights, and the quiet yet powerful influence he has exerted on contemporary Indian literature. Garg praised Devbarman’s ability to weave “human emotion, homeland memory, and cultural depth into literary experiences that resonate far beyond geographical boundaries.”
Following the ceremony, Devbarman expressed deep gratitude to his foreign colleagues, friends, and mentors, crediting their belief in his work and their recommendations for helping him receive this honor on a global stage. He described the day as “emotionally overwhelming,” acknowledging that such recognition reinforces his commitment to writing that celebrates culture, people, and the poetry of everyday life.
