Tributes Paid to 1971 War Hero Anusuya Prasad Gaud at Bairashkund, Chamoli Two-Day Vijay Mahotsav Concludes with Dignity and Grandeur Chamoli.

Under the aegis of the Maha Vir Chakra Vijay MahotsavCommittee, a grand two-day Vijay Mahotsav was organized at Bairashkund, Chamoli, to honor the supreme sacrifice of the 1971 India–Pakistan War hero, Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaud, born in village Nauna (District Chamoli). The event was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Dinesh Chandra Gaud, President of the organizing committee.

The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by District Panchayat President Mr. Daulat Singh Bisht (Chief Guest) and Dr. Vipin Gaur, General Secretary, Newspapers Association of India (Guest of Honour). The proceedings were conducted by former village head Mr. Prabhat Purohit. A large gathering of local residents, village heads, block members, and committee representatives marked their presence on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vipin Gaur said that the Vijay Mahotsav was dedicated to the memory of India’s youngest martyr and youngest recipient of the Maha Vir Chakra, Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaud. He remarked that the event was not merely a fair, but a living symbol of patriotism, valor, and devotion to the nation. 

Dr. Gaur urged the Uttarakhand government to recognize the Vijay Mahotsav as a state-level event to offer a true tribute to the gallant soldier. He added that the inspiring story of the martyr would strengthen the spirit of nationalism among youth and boost the morale of the soldiers guarding the nation’s borders.

The second day of the event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble MLA from Tharali, Mr. Bhopal Ram Tamta, as the Chief Guest. The session was conducted by Mr. Umesh Katai, President, BJP Mandal. Among the prominent attendees were Captain Karan Singh Bisht, President of the Ex-Servicemen’s Association, and representatives of various veterans’ organizations.

The Mahotsav featured a range of activities including a multipurpose camp, NCC cadet competitions, devotional singing contests, solo performance events, and tug-of-war. Enthralling cultural performances by local artistes, a special drama presentation by the Himalaya ColorNatyaSansthan, and the felicitation ceremony of soldiers and martyrs’ families were the major highlights.

Cultural performances on both days added a special charm to the celebration. The devotional songs by women’s groups, NCC drill displays, and vibrant stage programs captivated the audience. 

The two-day Vijay Mahotsavconcluded successfully in a disciplined and dignified atmosphere, paying a heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaud. The event served as a source of inspiration for the younger generation, reminding them of the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.
